Dr. Trey Harris

Dr. Trey Harris is the Associate Director of Bands for the Western Michigan University School of Music. Dr. Harris began his professional musical career as a trombonist playing in the United States Marine Corps serving in the III Marine Expeditionary Force Band (Okinawa, Japan) and the Marine Corps Band-New Orleans (New Orleans, LA). Upon honorable discharge from service, he studied music education at Michigan State University, receiving a B.M.E degree. While working on his degree, Harris maintained an active schedule as a freelance trombonist, private trombone/euphonium teacher, and band director. After graduation, he moved to the Midwest and pursued an M.M. degree at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Conservatory of Music and Dance. Harris' Ph.D in Music Education is from Florida State University. Prior to accepting his current position, Harris served as the Assistant Director of Bands at Kennesaw State University.
