It's Time to Spin! - What to Practice When You Can't Practice

Join the fabulous Ruth Ann Medworth for a color guard session! Learn how to practice without an instructor, how to set personal and group goals, where to find help refining your skills, and how to stay inspired!




About the Instructors:

Ruth Ann is director of the Northview High School Color Guard, Winter Guard and Auxiliary Units. Along with teaching Physical Education, she coordinates several clinics and workshops for middle school and high school students. Ruth Ann serves as a member the Indiana High School Color Guard Association Board of Directors and is a past member of the Winter Guard International Board of Directors. She is an IHSCGA Envoy Award winner and is a member of the WGI HALL OF FAME. Peter Kikta is the Assistant Principal at Northview High School in Brazil, Indiana. Prior to his administrative appointment, Mr. Kikta served for 10 years as Assistant Director of Bands at Northview High School where he taught the Percussion Ensemble, Jazz Band, and team-taught the concert bands as well as the award-winning Northview Marching Band. During his tenure at Northview, Mr. Kikta also assisted with the instruction of the perennial WGI World Class Finalist Northview Winter Guard. Mr. Kikta has continued his work as a music educator through his teaching at Smith-Walbridge Clinics and his work as an arranger and a drill designer. His concert band and percussion ensemble works can be purchased through his publishing company, Agave Music. Mr. Kikta is a graduate of the University of Illinois (BS in Music Education), the University of Arizona (MMA in Wind Instrument Conducting), and Indiana State University (Educational Leadership). He currently resides in Brazil, Indiana with his wife, Tammy, and his two daughters, Kamryn (12) and Karsyn (9).
