About the event
Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is at the core of what we teach in any ensemble. This session will introduce what SEL is and how it benefits our students through the concepts we teach. It will cover how any director can implement these ideas in their marching band right now. Intentional SEL helps our students develop skills that are essential to working during distance learning and will make them into stronger leaders and musicians when we return to in-person instruction.
Hosted by
Dr. Scott Edgar, Associate Professor of Music, Music Education Chair, & Director of Bands at Lake Forest College and author of Music Education and Social Emotional Learning: The Heart of Teaching Music
Michael J. West, Lead Fine Arts Teacher and Director of Bands at Round Lake High School
