Elliot Lentz

As a versatile conductor in both the orchestral and wind band worlds, Elliott Lentz is a dynamic musician and strong advocate for arts education. Currently serving as Director of Orchestras at North Central High School (Indianapolis, IN), he is also the Conductor-in-Residence with Sound Ecologies (Indianapolis, IN) and Clinician for the Smith Walbridge Student Conducting Clinic (Charleston, IL). This past May Lentz finished his 5 year tenure as Artistic Director & Conductor for the Circle City Orchestra (Indianapolis, IN). In addition to his various roles, Elliott likewise maintains an active freelance conductor, adjudicator, & clinician schedule.

Ensembles under his leadership have earned numerous accolades and “With Distinction” Honors while appearing at numerous Indiana State School Music Association Concert Orchestra State Finals. The North Central Chamber Orchestra and the Circle City Orchestra were both invited to perform at the 2023 and
2026 Indiana Music Education Association State Professional Development Conference, respectively. Last summer Lentz was recently selected as 1 of 5 finalists to conduct & perform with the United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own” in the 10th Annual Army Band Workshop & Concert. Guest conducting and collaboration opportunities have included the Purdue University Philharmonic Orchestra, University of Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Indiana Bandmasters Association All-Region & All-District Honor Bands, Ballet INitiative, the Circle City Chamber Choir, Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, and Columbus Symphony Orchestra. Additional educational experiences have included the Conductors Retreat at Medomak and conducting symposiums at UMKC, University of Colorado at Boulder, University of Illinois, and University of Indianapolis. Elliott completed his Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Ball State University where he studied Trumpet with the late Professor Paul Everett and Conducting with Dr. Thomas Caneva. Elliott was Drum Major of the NorthWood High School Red Regiment for 2 years & Drum Major for the Ball State University Pride of Mid-America Marching Band for 3 years. He also served on the Instructional Staff for the SWC Drum Major Clinics for 6 years and earned his 1st Class in Corps Style.
