OVERVIEW & TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
The Smith Walbrige Mace & Signal Baton Workshop specializes in teaching performance and twirling techniques. Classes are offered at the beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. Students focus on advancing their performance skills, then encouraged to develop their own creative style and ideas for showmanship and exciting performances. It is ideal for both high school and college drum majors.
WORKSHOP AGENDA
- Spice up performance skills with fancy mace tricks and twirling routines and drum major salutes
- Becoming a contemporary Drum Major and develop dynamic showmanship sure to dazzle the audience and the judges
- Learn to break away from standard Drum Major staging, making a powerful contribution to the visual elements of your marching band’s performance
- Expert instructors with extensive performance experience
A short demonstration is presented at 11:30 AM on the last day behind Taylor Hall for parents, sponsors, directors and friends. Equipment is for sale at discounted prices at the clinic store.
